Professor Malveaux cited in SCOTUS Travel Ban Case

Congratulations to Professor Suzette Malveaux, who was cited in the Supreme Court travel ban case, Trump v. Hawaii last week. Although the case was primarily about the the travel ban's legality, Justice Clarence Thomas also wrote a concurrence challenging the legitimacy of national injunctions and cited Professor Malveaux for her work opposing his view. The issue is whether judges will be able to continue to block President Trump's executive orders and policies across the country on all kinds of issues such as immigration, national security, and sanctuary cities. Justice Thomas has teed up this issue for the review by the Court in the future.

According to Professor Malveaux, "National injunctions are important to the rule of law and our democracy. This is a critical and timely subject that will continue to make a big difference in the lives of so many everyday Americans."
