On December 8, 2020, Catholic Law Professor Mary Graw Leary spoke at a virtual event hosted by Samuel D. Brownback, U.S. Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom; Kelley E. Currie, Ambassador at Large for Global Women's Issues; and John C. Richmond, Ambassador at Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.
The event, presented to government officials, civil society representatives, and the public, aimed to spotlight the trafficking of women and girls into China, where they are subjected to sex trafficking, sexual assault, forced child-bearing, and forced labor in domestic service under the false pretense of marriage to local men. Graw Leary joined other speakers for a moderated panel discussing interventions.
