CUA Law alumnus Mark D. Sweet '98 was recently announced as the new managing partner at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP. Effective this month, Sweet will succeed James B. Monroe as the firm's new managing partner.
During Sweet's nearly 20 years with Finnegan, he has served on the firm's management committee, acted as a recruiting partner, and most recently led the firm's chemical practice. He focuses his practice on portfolio analysis; due diligence investigations; interference proceedings; reissue and reexamination proceedings; preparing patentability, validity, and infringement opinions; and client counseling. He also has significant experience in inter partes review (IPR) and post-grant review (PGR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Sweet will continue his practice while serving as managing partner, a role in which he will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the firm.
