On April 18, members of the Catholic Law community gathered at Capitol View at 400, a beautiful rooftop venue in Washington, D.C., for the eleventh annual Dean’s Dinner. The event brought together alumni benefactors and leaders, faculty and staff, and students who have benefited directly from the scholarship funds raised by the law school’s generous donors.
Established in 2013 by the Law School's Board of Visitors, this year’s Dean’s Dinner was a moment to celebrate the impact of philanthropy at Catholic Law. It underscored the school’s ongoing commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are trained to be exceptional legal professionals.
Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to connect and learn more about the recent endeavors of the law school and its students. Dean Stephen C. Payne provided updates on the school’s continued growth while thanking the many supporters who contributed to the school’s success. Father Raymond O’Brien, Professor Emeritus and the founding donor of two funds benefiting students at Catholic Law, delivered an invocation and closing remarks. During the event program, Katherine Gamelin Crowley ‘10, Associate Dean for Administration and Chief of Staff introduced video vignettes that highlighted the work of Catholic Law’s Center for Law and the Human Person, the Project on Constitutional Originalism and Catholic Intellectual Tradition, the Columbus Community Legal Services’ Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Clinic and newly launched Immigration Law and Policy Law Initiative, as well as to recognize the philanthropic impact of scholarship funds, particularly those established by Father O’Brien.
In closing, Dean Crowley emphasized the transformative role of scholarships, noting, “Scholarships not only open doors to legal education but also uphold the principle that talent and dedication, not just financial means, should shape one’s professional journey.”
