The Columbus School of Law's spring calendar has been filled with dates and events designed to reconnect alumni all over the country with each other, with the law school, and in some instances with current students who may benefit from mentorships and friendships with practicing law school graduates.

The occasions also provide the opportunity for Dean Daniel F. Attridge to discuss law school affairs and bring alumni up-to-date on the latest developments. Some highlights from a busy January-February include: Feb. 15 - Annual Mass for Miami area alumni and their families, a tradition since 2004. For the sixth time, it was hosted by Luis and Linda Perez, both class of 1983. The celebration of Mass in their Coral Gables home was attended by Dean Attridge and his wife, Missy, Rev. Raymond C. O'Brien, and members of the law school staff. In his homily, Father O'Brien asked worshipers to recall the poignant acts of Jesus who laid hands on those in need, regardless of wealth, health or societal status. Father O'Brien and later, Dean Attridge, both spoke of the service ethos exhibited by CUA Law in many different settings, such as volunteerism and in clinical work. Following Mass, guests were treated to lunch provided by the Perez's. Many lingered through the afternoon, inspired by the message of service. Feb. 11 - The Gordon Biersch restaurant in McLean, Va. was the setting for a Northern Virginia reception for CUA Law alumni. Attendees included Julie Bowen, 1990, Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary, the MITRE Corporation. Other alumni who are also employed with MITRE were in attendance.

Feb. 3 - More than two dozen alumni attended the reception for Montgomery County, Md., residents (left) at the restaurant Cesco Osteria in Bethesda. The event was hosted by CUA Law alumnus Jeffrey Moreland, 1970, Vice Chairman of the Board, Chairman, Government Affairs and Legal & Corporate Affairs Committee, Amtrak; and also a former member of the law school's Board of Visitors. Jan. 21 - Alumni reception at the Greenbelt Marriott in Prince George's County. Md.
D. Michael Lyles, 1994, the Director of the Prince George's County Human Relations Commission, assisted with getting the word out.

The law school's alumni program for the spring has many events still to come, including receptions planned in Philadelphia, New York, Hartford/Providence, and Dallas-Ft. Worth.
