The CUA Law Scholarship Repository, which went live online on April 2, 2014, has enjoyed an encouraging number of visits and paper downloads during its debut year.

Based on a platform called Digital Commons, the repository provides full-text access to the Columbus School of Law's student-edited journals and faculty scholarship, including articles, books, and other contributions. It creates a virtual space where the intellectual output of the law school can be organized and preserved. Reference librarian Steve Young compiled user statistics for the first year.

• A total of 4,527 papers reside on the repository
• 282,000 total downloads in the first year
• Average of 770 downloads per day
• CUA Law Review - 135,000 downloads
• Health Law Journal - 50,000 downloads
• CommLaw Conspectus - 50,000 downloads
• Faculty Scholarship - 40,000 downloads
• 894 articles and 103 books are authored by our current faculty
• Two of the top 10 downloaded papers are authored by CUA Law faculty; one is coauthored by a library staff member

The most popular paper, a 1981 CUA Law Review article on housing discrimination, has been downloaded over 3,700 times.

"We have been very pleased with the response to the site over the first year," said Young. "While we didn't have statistical benchmarks in mind for the site when we launched last April, the goal was to provide wider exposure to our scholarship and we certainly feel that we have achieved that. Hopefully, we'll continue to see interest in the site grow as we add more content over the next year." The repository is a project of the Dean's Office and Judge Kathryn J. DuFour Law Library.
