The CUA Law community has donated over 700 cans for the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB). Each class was assigned a bin where they would bring their cans for donations.
Brittany McNurlin, 1L took charge and collected money donations and then went to Costco and bought over $200 dollars worth of cans.
The food was delivered to CAFB in November by two representatives from the Student Bar Association (SBA), Katlyn Dulles, 1L and Sandra Sawan, 1L.
The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank is to create access to good, healthy food in every community. It also educates the community about the issues of hunger and nutrition. CUA Law's Student Bar Association has coordinated a Law School food drive for CAFB for several years.
"I personally couldn't have been more proud of our class and our school for coming together for such an important cause," Dulles said.
The Capital Area Food Bank:
The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic undernutrition, heart disease, and obesity. By partnering with 444 community organizations in DC, MD, and VA, as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas, the CAFB is helping 540,000 people each year get access to good, healthy food. That's 12% of our region's mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, and grandparents.
