During the Law School's 129th Commencement the President of the Alumni Council, Stanley E. Woodward Jr. '08, presented the Law School Alumni Association Award to Alexander Mansfield (Day Division) and Antoinette Spinks (Evening Division). The Law School Alumni Association Award, established in 1978, is given on the basis of academic excellence, participation in extracurricular and cocurricular activities, and dedication to the Law School, University, and community.

"Alex has been extremely committed to the law school community and has stood out as a student leader since day one. As a second year student, Alex served as Secretary for The Federalist Society. He continued his commitment to the organization by later serving as President. He also committed much of his time to the Catholic University Law Review, serving as an Associate Editor and he served as Vice President for the Guild of Catholic Lawyers. In addition to all these activities, he is a cum laude graduate. It is an honor for the Alumni Council to present him with this award today," Woodward said.

"Our evening students often balance law school with significant competing demands for their time. Such obligations have not stopped Antoniette from excelling academically, graduating today with cum laude honors, and engaging in the law school community as a student leader. Antoniette served as the Evening Vice President of the Black Law Students Association and as a Dean's Academic Fellow, where she guided first year law students as a mentor. Antoniette received the Extra Mile Award in honor of her outstanding service to the law school community and the student body despite having other demands on her time, including completing her legal education one semester early. It is my pleasure to present the Alumni award to her today," Woodward said.
