University President John Garvey announced the appointment of CUA Law Professor Regina T. Jefferson as the interim Dean for the Columbus School of Law. The appointment will be effective August 1, 2018, while the University continues its search for a permanent dean.
Dean Jefferson is well known to the CUA Law community. She has taught at the Columbus School of Law for more than 25 years, including a term as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. She is a recognized expert on pension law, employee benefits, and tax law. She understands the academic side of her discipline as well as its practical implications. She has worked for the Internal Revenue Service, testified before Congress, and was appointed in 2015 by the President of the United States to the Advisory Committee to the federal Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. She currently serves as an expert on taxation to the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations. Dean Jefferson earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Howard University, a Juris Doctor from George Washington University, and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University, where she served as a teaching fellow.
Current Dean, Daniel F. Attridge, is stepping down on July 31, 2018 and joining the faculty.
