On December 14, 2021, the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Committee announced that the Section on Pro Bono & Public Service Opportunities has been selected as a winner of the 5th Annual Section of the Year Award, which recognizes Sections going above and beyond in member engagement and promotion of the AALS’ core values. Kiva Zytnick, Associate Director of the Pro Bono Program and Public Interest Law at Catholic Law and Chair-Elect of the AALS Section on Pro Bono & Public Service Opportunities, explained, "2021 was an exciting year of reinvigoration and growth for our Section. We recruited a diverse group of leaders from law schools across the country, fostered connections across pro bono and public service communities, and contributed to important access to justice conversations and scholarship. This honor is thanks to a big team effort. I am privileged to be part of this community of law school leaders working together to create positive change."

The 5th Annual Section of the Year Award will be formally celebrated at the 2022 AALS Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
