Catholic Law alumna Laura Ripken ’89 has been appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. Ripken will fill the seat of Judge Timothy Elmer Merideth, who retired in September, to be one of 15 judges on the court. Currently, Ripken serves as the Circuit Administrative Judge for the 5th Judicial Circuit and is the judge presiding over the trial of the man convicted of murdering five Capital Gazette staff members in 2018.
