On June 15, 2021, The Catholic University of America hosted a CatholicU Alumni Live Law Panel. The panel focused on leadership and service in traditional and non-traditional legal careers. Moderated by Mary Card-Mina, B.A. ’93, J.D. ’96, Supervisory Attorney, guests heard from alumni panelists Liza Craig ’04, Counsel at Reed Smith LLP; Scott Flesch, B.A. ’94, J.D. ’97, Chief Trial Attorney of the U.S. Army Legal Services Agency; Jennifer Howard, B.A. ’93, J.D. ’96, Director of Legal Programs for Rosie’s Place; and Dianne Piché ’85, Civil Rights and Education Attorney.
After welcoming remarks from Card-Mina, the evening's panelists and each took a turn introducing themselves and outlining their career, from law school to where they are today. Following introductions, Card-Mina posed a series of questions regarding leadership and using the law to serve others. The panelists addressed how they have come to leadership in their careers—noting the need for authenticity in leadership style and that leadership is a lifelong endeavor—and how they view the law as a service profession. With the remaining time, the panelists answered a few questions from the audience.
As the program drew to a close, Card-Mina thanked the panelists for their time and willingness to engage with the Catholic University community.
