On December 23, 2020, Catholic Law Professor Mary Graw Leary spoke at an online roundtable on “Protection of Children in the Digital Environment” organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Project Officer in Uzbekistan and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.

The roundtable was organized to provide state institutions—including law enforcement agencies, judges, and prosecutors—in Uzbekistan with guidance to enhance practices, policies, and strategies in the criminal justice sector to address complex challenges in addressing child abuse online. The roundtable brought together high-level representatives from Uzbekistan to discuss the development and strengthening of training programs to address child abuse on the internet with a human rights-based, child-friendly, gender-sensitive, age-appropriate, and victim and survivor-centered approach.
