On January 7, 2022, Catholic Law Professor Veryl Miles spoke at the 2022 Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Annual Meeting. Miles spoke at a program held by the Section on New Law Professors entitled, “The Delicate Dance: Balancing Competing Interests in Making Decisions as a New Law Professor." During the session, Miles and fellow panelists explored five areas of tension that new law professors encounter: (1) balancing time for teaching, scholarship, and service; (2) using student evaluations to learn and improve; (3) giving students constructive feedback without turning them off; (4) teaching techniques; and (5) personal viewpoints.
