Mary Graw Leary, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law, recently weighed in on a lawsuit brought against the Washington Hebrew Congregation Preschool. The group of parents brought suit over claims that the school was negligent in their children’s sexual abuse by an employee. The school maintains that parents waived their right to sue when they signed liability waivers upon enrolling their children in the school. Graw Leary’s comments focused on how the law has shifted and the expectation of adults to engage in protective measures to ensure child safety.
