Professor David A. Lipton, Director of the Columbus School of Law's Securities Law Program, was interviewed on EWTN Nightly News discussing the volatile trading which world wide securities markets are facing today. Lipton explained that, for the moment, we are reacting to a broad variety of unfortunate economic and financial events, which together have created a "perfect storm." However, he emphasized, that a serious investor cannot pull out of the market every time there is a downturn. Markets go down and they come back up with time.
When asked if there are special investments upon which Catholics might focus, Professor Lipton noted that investors are increasingly turning to social benefit companies in which to invest their wealth. These companies are also vulnerable to volatility but their purpose is directed at community welfare.
