On Friday, April 1, the Law School hosted Federal Clemency: What's Next. The full-day event was convened by Professor Sandy Ogilvy and Professor Mark Osler (St. Thomas-MN) to explore current issues for law schools involved in the historic initiative of the Obama Administration to commute the sentences of individuals sentenced to draconian mandatory sentences - ClemencyProject 2014 - and to consider what the law schools can do as the Obama administration comes to its end to continue this work.

The participants heard from Administration Officials, including representatives from the Office of White House Counsel, and the U.S. Pardon Attorney, Robert Zauzmer. Other speakers included Professor Michael Romano (Stanford Law School Justice Advocacy Project); Caprice Jenerson (Resource Attorney ClemencyProject 2014); Greg Mitchell, The Mitchell Firm; and Hon. Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. (former Md. Governor). Gov. Ehrlich and CUA have joined together to work on clemency issues as the CUA/Ehrlich Partnership on Clemency.
