For law students, the connections they make during their time in law school are invaluable. Catholic Law strives to foster a supportive community, particularly in connecting students with its extensive alumni network through the CUA Law Advantage Mentor Program. This program connects current students with graduates who will assist and counsel them throughout their law school experience—guiding students in defining their future role as lawyers.
On Tuesday, January 21, first year students met to learn more about how the CUA Law Advantage Mentor Program can help support them. Mentor Stanley Samorajczyk ’67 spoke to the group about his experience with the program. Samorajczyk shared his gratitude for the success Catholic Law helped him achieve and his appreciation that his experience can be a resource for a new generation of law students.
Samorajczyk believes that it is the responsibility of a veteran lawyer to mentor younger professionals and, of course, law students. Samorajczyk was recently mentor to Whitney Morgan '17. Their mentor/mentee relationship was one that he feels they both benefited from and he continues to show interest in Morgan's success as a lawyer.
Each spring, first year students participating in the program are paired with an alumni mentor, taking into consideration practice area and geographical preference. These mentors remain committed to their student mentees throughout their time at Catholic Law.
To participate in the CUA Law Advantage Mentor Program, Catholic Law students should complete the Mentee Application Form prior to the February 28, 2020, deadline.
