Catholic Law’s National Trial Team is set to compete in their regional qualifier for the National Trial Competition, which will be held this weekend at the American University Law School. Law schools from Maryland, Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., Delaware, and West Virginia will participate in the tournament. Catholic won the regional competition last year and went on to win the 2019 national championship.
The country is divided into fifteen regions for the regional qualifiers. The top two teams from each region advance to the prestigious National Trial Competition, which is co-sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Texas Young Lawyers Association and will be held this year in Fort Worth, Texas.
Catholic will be sending two teams to the regional qualifier. The law school will be represented by Taylor Dontje (3L), Thomas Dillon (2L), and Beverly Diaz (1L), as one team and Colleen L’Etoile (2L), Meghan Moorhouse (2L), and Kendell Strachan (1L) as another. Each team has been busy preparing to argue both sides of the regional competition problem, Rankin v. Paymore Specialty Insurance Company, Inc.
“The students’ focus this weekend is to apply the skills they’ve practiced, compete hard, and win the region. Our teams have worked tirelessly and are ready. They’re looking forward to the tournament,” said National Trial Team Director John N. Sharifi.
The regional competition begins Friday, February 7.
