On November 1, 2020, The National Law Journal released its “2020 Appellate Hot List” honorees. The list includes firms from across the country that tackled novel issues and undoubtedly overcame unprecedented challenges over the past year—and that had success before the U.S. Supreme Court and federal appeals courts. Among the impressive list of firms included this year was The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a non-profit religious liberty law firm led by Professor of Law Mark Rienzi.
In addition to teaching at Catholic Law, Rienzi is President of Becket and was featured in The National Law Journal announcement discussing the firm's top Supreme Court wins this year. Both of the cases Rienzi discussed were religious liberty cases for Catholic clients—Our Lady of Guadalupe School and Little Sisters of the Poor. As Director of Catholic Law's Center for Religious Liberty and a Professor of Law at Catholic University, Rienzi brings his Supreme Court expertise to the classroom and his work with Catholic Law students.
