On March 27, 2021, Catholic Law’s Moot Court Association hosted the 4th Annual Ellen A. (Nell) Hennessy Employee Benefits Competition. These teams competed before experienced judges and law practitioners and addressed current employee benefits issues.
Catholic Law welcomed teams from across the country to compete virtually in the event. This year’s roster of teams included: ● UIC John Marshall Law School ● University of Cincinnati College of Law ● University of Texas School of Law ● Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law ● The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law (2) ● Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and Georgetown University Law Center (joint team) ● Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law and Buffalo School of Law (joint team).
After several hard-fought rounds, the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law team of Katherine Bell, Kylie DeMaria, and Sara Salvo ultimately prevailed over the University of Texas School of Law team of Metzeri Camacho and Liliana Jayme. The final teams were especially impressive, considering both were arguing off-brief in the final round.
The Vice-Chancellor of the 4th Annual Nell Hennessy Moot Court Competition, Christina Pashaj (3L), represented on behalf of Catholic Law. She shared, "The competitors impressed everyone in the way they adapted to the virtual format. They were articulate, poised, and extremely well-prepared." The Law School also wished to extend a special thank you to all the judges and bailiffs who participated in the event.
