Two environmental law experts discussed their respective career paths Monday, September 25, during an event hosted by the Environmental Law Society (ELS) at The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law (Catholic Law). Adjunct professors Barry Breen and Alexandra Dunn ’94 spoke to an audience of both day- and evening-division students, detailing the respective life trajectories that led them into environmental law.
Breen, the Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Land and Emergency Management at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), teaches a Catholic Law course offered during the spring semester and focused specifically on environmental law. Dunn, a partner at Baker Botts LLP whose area of practice includes environmental, safety and incident response, teaches a course on environmental justice during the fall semester. At the conclusion of Monday’s event, students were able to continue the conversation with the presenters.
Providing students interested in current environmental issues and related career opportunities a forum for discussion and networking, ELS both hosts and sponsors programs, seminars, and discussions. It also participates in various community outreach initiatives, such as neighborhood cleanup efforts, environmental conferences, and EPA pollution control programs.
