The Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD) at The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law (Catholic Law) hosted prosecutors from the Miami-Dade Homicide Bureau, Wednesday, October 18. This event, entitled “Law & Order: Interactive Program with Miami-Dade Homicide Prosecutors,” was cosponsored by the Criminal Law Society and the Students for Public Interest Law. The event presented attendees an opportunity to prepare a case for a mock trial, giving them a first glimpse into a criminal law prosecutor’s duty.
Nilo Cuervo, Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney at Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, debriefed students on evidence collected in the investigation of a real case. Following the presentation students were able to ask questions, discuss the investigative process, and make recommendations about charges. Cuervo remained after the event to discuss summer and post-grad opportunities for law students.
