The Securities Law Program (SLP) at The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law (Catholic Law) hosted the 40th Annual Securities Practice Group Alumni Luncheon at the Army Navy Club on Thursday, March 7, bringing esteemed alumnus and former SEC Commissioner Daniel M. Gallagher ’98 to deliver the luncheon’s keynote address. The Luncheon was well attended, with alumni from the SEC, FINRA, leading law firms, financial firms and industry associations gathering to meet and interact with each other and with current students of the Program.
Thursday’s event opened with introductory remarks by Catholic Law Dean Stephen C. Payne, who welcomed guests before yielding the floor to SLP Director Jack W. Murphy. Delivering his State of the Securities Law Program speech, Director Murphy provided an overview of the Program’s growth and future potential, as well as the success of its graduates in the field of securities law.
After his remarks, Director Murphy turned the podium over to guest speaker Daniel M. Gallagher, currently the Chief Legal, Compliance, and Corporate Affairs Officer of Robinhood Markets, Inc., who delivered the afternoon’s keynote address, “Regulating the Use of Predictive Data Analytics: This Ain’t No Rom Com.”
Thursday’s event closed with the recognition of the recipients of the 2024 Securities Law Program Scholarship for Excellence. This year’s recipients were Catherine Cook (3L), Nicholas D’Addio (3L), and Jocelyn Near (4E).
