On Thursday, March 21, Catholic Law's Latin American Law Students Association (LALSA) and the Women’s Law Caucus (WLC) co-hosted the latest edition of their Meet the Professor Spotlight Series, featuring Professor Megan M. La Belle, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
During the session, WLC president Taylor Skala (3L) and former LALSA president Julie Orlando ’23, now a fellow at the Law School’s Columbus Community Legal Services (CCLS), engaged Professor La Belle in a conversation about her journey to becoming a legal educator. Professor La Belle shared insights into her career, leading to the development of her expertise and scholarship in intellectual property and civil procedure.
Reflecting on the experiences that led her to pursue a faculty position, Professor La Belle attributed much of her professional success to the relationships she forged in law school, her time in private practice, and her clerkships with the Honorable Stephen S. Trott in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Honorable Margaret M. Morrow of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in Los Angeles. She emphasized the role of these professional connections in opening unforeseen opportunities, advising students to seize such moments and take calculated risks to further their ambitions.
The Meet the Professor Spotlight Series, a collaborative initiative of LALSA and WLC at Catholic Law, promotes dialogue between students and Law School faculty by exploring the balance between scholarship and careers in legal service.
