Why did you choose to go to law school?
I chose to go to law school because I wanted to learn about how to understand and address change from a legal standpoint. I also wanted to learn about the law from many different perspectives.
Why Catholic Law? (prior to attending)
I chose Catholic Law because of its excellent reputation–for academic success, professional growth, and career opportunities. I also chose Catholic Law because I liked the class sizes; I could learn from classmates, but could also receive very personal feedback from Professors.
Because I was making a career shift, I was nervous about going back to school. However, during the admissions process Catholic Law viewed my teaching experience as something to be valued, and had resources available to ensure that I (and others) could seamlessly transition into law school.
What externships or other practical experiences did you have while at Catholic Law?
During law school I was able to intern for the Maryland Office of the Public Defender Post Conviction; extern for the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office Special Victims Division; extern for the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division Immigrant and Employee Rights Section; and extern for the Honorable Andrea M. Leahy in the Appellate Court of Maryland. I was also a Summer Associate and Law Clerk for Shulman Rogers.
This year, I was a Co-Writer for the Seigenthaler Sutherland-Cup Opinion. This past fall, I was the Research and Symposium Assistant for the German Women Jewish Lawyers in the Third Reich Discussion and Exhibit Opening at Catholic Law.
Over the past three years I have also participated:
- in the Student Scholar Series (this year)
- on The Catholic University Law Review (last year and this year)
- on the National Mock Trial Team (last year and this year)
- as a Dean’s Academic Fellow (last year and this fall)
- as a Teaching Assistant for Professor Harmon (last year)
- as a Cardinal Crew Mentor (last year)
- on the Student Bar Association as a Class Representative (first and second year)
What experiences at Catholic Law were highlights for you?
I particularly enjoyed getting to learn every day. Every professor invited all students to participate and ask questions, and I am grateful that they created such a safe learning environment. Outside of the classroom, I enjoyed collaborating with classmates and Professors Harmon and Fischer to help write the opinion for the Seigenthaler-Sutherland Cup because I was able to see the evolution of our efforts come to fruition during the actual Moot Court Competition this past March.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to study and sit for the Bar. Then, Shulman Rogers kindly extended an offer for me to return this fall, where I will be part of their Real Estate practice group.
Why Catholic Law now?

If you are looking for a law school environment that will also support your needs as a learner, then CUA is for you. Everyone at CUA Law, including the Staff, Professors, and Students, are kind, supportive, and genuinely want to see you succeed. It is such a positive learning environment, and I am privileged to have had the opportunity to attend law school here for the past three years.
