Catholic Law's Miranda Turner ’24 made national news in July 2024, when she and her mother, Pamela Martin-Turner, were spotlighted by ABC News’s Good Morning America (GMA). GMA covered Turner, the daughter of a George Washington University-educated attorney who was unable to attend her own graduation ceremony in 1982, after she went viral for surprising her mother on Mother’s Day with her own doctoral tam and gown and a pre-arranged mother-daughter photoshoot at Washington, DC’s Jefferson Memorial.
“I wanted her to be able to have that feeling, because when I first tried on my cap and gown, I was just so happy and giddy, and I jumped around in it,” Turner said in her interview with GMA. “My mom really deserves the world. She's poured everything into us, and so this was just a moment that we wanted to pour back into her.”
