Allison Carpenter

  • Allison Carpenter is the Deputy Public Defender at the Office of the Public Defender for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church. In this role, she has been counsel in dozens of jury trials and represented thousands of clients in all stages of litigation. She has served as her office's crimmigration liaison and appellate supervisor. In 2020, Arlington County appointed her as the Traffic Enforcement subcommittee chair of its Police Practices Group, which the County formed to review and reform current police policies.

    Prior to becoming a public defender, Allison clerked for Judge D. Michael Fisher of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Allison earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she served as Executive Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and received her B.A. from Georgetown University.
