Cecily E. Baskir is an appellate litigator specializing in indigent criminal defense. Prior to opening her own law firm, she founded the first clinical legal education program at the Peking University School of Transnational Law in Shenzhen, China. She also practiced public interest law as a Chesterfield Smith Fellow at Holland & Knight LLP in Washington, DC and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Rosemary Barkett on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Miami, FL. Ms. Baskir is a scholar of cross-cultural competence and clinical legal education, and she teaches legal writing and criminal procedure courses internationally.
In addition, Ms. Baskir was elected to the Council of the Town of Chevy Chase, Maryland for the first time in 2017 and served as mayor of the Town of Chevy Chase from 2020-2021.
