William Steinman is the senior partner at Steinman & Rodgers LLP, a boutique law firm in Washington D.C. specializing in international anti-corruption law, particularly including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (the “FCPA”). He has practiced exclusively in this area for over twenty-nine years, and is considered one of the leading FCPA lawyers in the United States. Prior to establishing Steinman & Rodgers, Mr. Steinman was the head of the international practice group at a major U.S. law firm. Mr. Steinman’s practice focuses primarily on FCPA compliance matters for multinational companies across numerous industries, including aerospace and defense, food and beverage, energy extraction, power generation, life sciences, high technology, and financial services (among others). Mr. Steinman is frequently called upon to assist clients with respect to internal investigations, risk assessments, and compliance reviews. He also represents sovereign governments and state-owned entities in West Africa and the Persian Gulf region.
Mr. Steinman is a senior editor of the FCPA Blog, a leading online source for international anti- corruption news and developments. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Ethics 1st, an initiative designed to promote transparency and anti-corruption compliance among small to medium sized enterprises in Africa. He is a frequent speaker on anti-corruption matters, and has addressed the Aerospace General Counsels Association, the International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct for the Aerospace and Defense Industry, and ACI’s International Conference on the FCPA.
Mr. Steinman received his J.D. from the Harvard Law School in 1993, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Vermont in 1990.
