Transportation

Students are responsible for their own travel arrangements between the United States and Italy.
Post- pandemic, the cost of refundable tickets has come down considerably. We recommend that you consider making airline reservations and other travel plans that can be refunded.

There are regular flights to Rome from the U.S., and local transportation from the Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino (FCO) to the Rome Center located in the Trastevere neighborhood is convenient and inexpensive. If you are traveling in Europe before the program, you will be arriving in Rome’s smaller airport in Ciampino. Ground transportation from other European cities to Rome is also available at a reasonable price. American passport holders, visiting up to 90 days, do not need visas to enter Italy.

Non CUA-arranged Housing:

Students are advised to understand the terms of the agreement, including costs, amenities, and refund policy concerning deposits and other payments, before entering into any housing agreements. Rome is an ancient city, therefore rental properties may or may not offer air conditioning, elevators or Wi-Fi access as standard features. Students who opt to seek their own housing are advised to look for accommodations close to or accessible to the Trastevere neighborhood by public transportation or within walking distance. The Rome Center is located on the Janiculum Hill, just above the ancient Roman neighborhood of Trastevere, at Via Garibaldi 28, 00153 Rome, Italy.

Non-Catholic University Expenses - Note that in all circumstances, airfare and student arranged housing is the sole responsibility of participants, and students must work with ticket issuer and/or housing provider to negotiate any possible refund.
