When is the Dean's Dinner?
The dinner will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 -
Where is the Dean's Dinner?
The dinner will be at The View at 400 in Washington, DC -
What is the Dean's Dinner?
The Dean's Dinner was founded as a fundraiser in 2013 by Dean Daniel F Attridge as a way to inspire giving to the general student scholarship fund. Since then it has grown to be one of the hallmark events of the year for the Catholic Law Board of Visitors, Donors, Faculty, Staff, and Students alike. The venue, dean, and even guest list have all changed over the years, but the one thing that has always survived is a deep commitment to growing funding for student scholarships. You can learn more about past Dean's Dinners here. (And then include a link to a new page that contains all the historic Dean's Dinner information currently on the landing page) -
Is this a fundraiser?
While in the past the Dean's Dinner has been used as a fundraiser to help raise funds for student scholarships, this year we are using it as a celebration event instead. Rather than charging a price per plate to guarantee a seat, we are inviting all qualifying donors to attend as a thank you, and a way to connect donors with the students they support. Registration will close on April 4, and seating is limited, so donors are encouraged to make their qualifying gifts and confirm their seats as soon as possible. -
What is a qualifying gift/donor?
Any donor with annual giving of $1,000 or more to one of the Columbus School of Law's scholarship funds - including endowed funds, impact scholarships, the Annual Fund, and scholarship campaigns - will receive an invitation by email and post. Annual giving is defined by the university's fiscal year, running May 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024. -
Why didn't I receive an invitation?
If you have given $1,000 or more to scholarship funds for the Law School between May 1, 2023 and April 4, 2024, but have not received an invitation, please email oconnorau@law.edu or call Aubri at 202-319-4638.
-
Is there a limit to the number of guests?
Yes. We will be limiting the guest list to 150 people. The guest list will be first come first served, so please be prepared to register as soon as registration opens. -
Can I bring a guest?
All qualifying donors are welcome to bring a guest, provided maximum registration has not been met. Please note seating will be assigned, and there will be a mix of donors, scholarship students, faculty, and staff sitting at the tables - which is to say there won't be a dull minute! -
Can I share this with my friends?
Certainly! We will be offering invitations and accepting reservations until the guest list is full or April 4, whichever comes first. Any qualifying donor to the Columbus School of Law scholarship programs is invited - even the ones yet to make their gift. -
Can I just show up the night of, or do I need to register?
All guests must be registered and verified before they can enter the venue. The View at 400 is a secure building and only guests on the list will be allowed in. Due to the limited seating and security needs of the building, only confirmed guests will be allowed to attend. -
What's the dress code?
Business professional and cocktail dress are encouraged. -
What will happen at the event?
The evening will begin with an open bar cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres, which will be followed by a three course meal of salad, surf & turf, and dessert with wine service. During the meal portion of the evening several speakers, including Dean Payne and the students, will share their stories about the power of scholarship support, and how philanthropy drives Catholic Law. Following dessert there will be a coffee and tea service before the evening concludes. There will be music, photographers, and some of the best views in DC. -
