Catholic Law students Andrea Quinan (2L), Julia Miles (2L), and Bella Santiago (2L) participated in an inaugural day-long Immigration Clinic at the law school on Saturday, August 3. The Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid (MSMA) Network, comprised of community volunteers and attorneys, was initially hosted by a neighboring law school. The clinic focuses on assisting individuals with Asylum and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) issues.
During the event, the students developed their lawyering and interviewing skills by collaborating with experienced volunteers and a supervising attorney to complete Form I-589s and Form I-821s. Julia Miles expressed her gratitude, noting, “I’m glad I got to practice my Spanish in a legal setting,” and emphasized the rewarding experience of helping individuals navigate the process and troubleshoot challenges as they arose.
The clinic staff extended their appreciation to the law school for its warm welcome to both the volunteers and the clients. Looking ahead, the law school is eager to build on this partnership in the coming months.
