Roger Colinvaux, a professor at Catholic Law, was recently quoted in The Washington Post. The article explores the government's influence on the cultural sector and the implications of the Trump administration's involvement. Colinvaux was quoted in reference to the impact of a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit on nonprofit philanthropy.  

Related to that ruling, Professor Colinvaux's recent article, "The Legality of Charitable Remedial Discrimination," posted on SSRN considers whether a charity may engage in affirmative action by using race or other identity-based criteria in providing charitable assistance.

“Obviously, it has a chilling effect, and many charities are aware of the ruling and don’t want to be sued because lawsuits are expensive and resource intensive,” he said.
