Members of the Military and National Security Law Association with Judge Coral Wong Pietsch ’74
On February 14, members of Catholic Law's Military and National Security Law Association (MNSLA) had the privilege of visiting the chambers of Judge Coral Wong Pietsch ‘74 at the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. A trailblazer in her field, Judge Pietsch holds the distinction of being the first female general officer in the Army JAG Corps and the first Asian-American woman to achieve the rank of general in the United States Army. Joining the students for the visit was her husband, James Pietsch ‘74, a former Army JAG Corps officer who now serves as a professor at the University of Hawai’i School of Law.
MNSLA President Annie Pierce shared her thoughts on the visit, saying, “I am deeply grateful to the wise and authentic Judge Pietsch for sharing her story and taking the time to ask each of us about our career aspirations. Our group gained invaluable insights and left truly inspired by both Judge Pietsch and her husband, James.”
Reflecting further, she added, “I also want to extend my thanks to Taylor Talley, our MNSLA treasurer, for organizing this incredible trip. I can’t wait to see the amazing things Taylor and the rest of our younger members achieve in the coming years!”
