Professor Mary Graw LearyProfessor Mary Graw Leary of Catholic Law testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary on Wednesday, February 19, during a public hearing titled "Children’s Safety in the Digital Era: Strengthening Protections and Addressing Legal Gaps." In her testimony, Graw Leary emphasized the misapplication of §230 of the Communications Decency Act, which she argued has created an ecosystem that not only fails to safeguard children but also incentivizes the tech industry to endanger them and inflict harm without accountability. The Judiciary Committee also requested and entered into the record her forthcoming article, "The Failed Experiment of §230 of the Communications Decency Act: How It Facilitates Exploitation and How It Must Be Reformed," to be published in the Villanova Law Review.

A recording of the hearing at which Graw Leary testified is available here, with her testifying at multiple points across the hearing. Her written testimony is available for viewing here.
