Catholic Law's Center for Religious Liberty (CRL) recently hosted a compelling discussion featuring Chen Guangcheng, a distinguished fellow for Human Rights at The Catholic University of America, and Christopher Mee, a first-year law student at Catholic Law. William Saunders, Co-Director of the CRL, served as moderator.
Chen Guangcheng
The event centered on the critical issue of religious persecution in China. Guangcheng recounted his harrowing personal experiences in China before his eventual escape, offering a firsthand perspective on the realities of oppression. Mee presented insights from a report he contributed to as a research assistant intern, titled Ten Persecuted Catholic Bishops in China. He also co-authored an article, A Birthday Tribute to China’s Heroic Bishop Su, which highlighted the extraordinary courage and resilience of Bishop Su.
Following the event, Mee shared on LinkedIn: "It was a privilege to shed light on religious persecution in China with Distinguished Fellow Chen Guangcheng as part of The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law’s Center for Religious Liberty. Special thanks to Professor William Saunders and Professor Mark Rienzi for making this possible."
