Each year, the Federalist Society (FedSoc) National presents several awards--called Feddie Awards--to student chapters. To be considered for these awards, chapters must first be nominated, after which FedSoc National selects a group of finalists. This year, Catholic Law’s FedSoc chapter was named finalists for five out of the eight total awards this year. Only a few other FedSoc chapters in the country were named finalists for more awards.
On March 7 and 8, FedSoc executive board members attended the 2025 National Student Symposium, which was hosted at Michigan Law and featured presentations from academics, judges, and practitioners. The Symposium also features the Feddie Awards ceremony.
This year, Catholic Law's student chapter achieved a milestone by winning its first-ever Feddie—the James Wilson Award for Academic Excellence. Gerald Sharpe (3L), President of the Catholic Law Chapter, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the leading FedSoc chapters in the country, showcasing the exceptional potential and strength of our school today and heralding what’s to come. This achievement would not have been possible without the across-the-board passion and dedication of our Executive Board and members."
Sharpe added, "The future of our chapter—and the law school at large—is exceptionally bright, and we are eager to continue building on this momentum."
