Julie Dietrich joined the Columbus School of Law in March 2022. As Assistant Dean for Career and Professional Development, she is responsible for providing comprehensive career and professional development services for Catholic University law students and alumni.
Julie received her B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from the College of the Holy Cross and her J.D., graduating magna cum laude, from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
During law school, Julie took advantage of the many opportunities available to students outside of the classroom including serving as a student attorney in the Families and the Law Clinic, participating in an externship at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, engaging in pro bono opportunities and serving as an editorial assistant and publishing an article for the Law Review.
After law school, Julie clerked in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland followed by a clerkship at the Drug Enforcement Administration through the Attorney General's Honors Program. She then spent the next 13 years in private practice, representing clients in civil, criminal, and family litigation, administrative law proceedings, as well as employment law and estate planning. Additionally, Julie spent nearly ten years teaching and mentoring middle and high school students as a teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools where she also served as a curriculum writer. She has taught legal research and writing at the undergraduate level and a death penalty seminar at George Washington Law School. She is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
