The Women’s Law Caucus (“WLC” or “Caucus”) is an organization at Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America. The WLC’s focuses on raising awareness of women’s legal and political issues and developing the advancement of women in their professional and legal careers. The Caucus frequently hosts events geared towards preparing female law students to be better equipped attorneys in the legal arena. Recently, the Caucus hosted a panel of women judges to discuss tips for carving out a pathway to the bench. Similarly, WLC invited members of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the United States Senate, and private practitioners to discuss gender discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace. Additional programs have included a film series on women’s jobs in a male-dominated fields, as well as forums related to improving public speaking skills and the prevention of rape and child abuse.

The Caucus also hosts colloquial gatherings with guest speakers from a variety of different organizations to complement its efforts to build a supportive, effective group of future attorneys. In so doing, it seeks to create an internal network of support that permeates through the entire law school community.

As in other student associations and organizations, the Caucus makes a concerted effort to encourage involvement in the community and assist residents in pro bono work. Most recently, it assisted Hogar Immigrant Services with preparing naturalization applications. By giving time to the surrounding neighborhoods, female students will be better equipped in their personal practices.
